Apart from the Johnny Depp scandal, Amber Heard has been making news for her part in Aquaman 2. People have clamoured for Heard to take over as Mera from the Lost Kingdom ever before the slander trial and even before that. There have been several such petitions, and most recently one of them received more than 4.6 million signatures.
Amber Heard has been making news for her part in Aquaman 2
Heard’s appearance in the Lost Kingdom has drawn criticism from some of her admirers despite widespread opposition. They have questioned why similar petitions haven’t been started for other male stars who have been accused of sexual abuse, grooming, and other crimes, like Ezra Miller, Shia LeBeouf, and others.
In the midst of all the commotion surrounding Amber Heard and Aquaman, a fresh Variety piece surfaced that contained the actress’ agent’s thoughts on the subject. Jessica pointed out that despite playing a significant DC role, Amber didn’t become as famous as one might have predicted. “Typically when you have an actor in a movie as successful as that, as Aquaman was, their career totally changes…” the agent said.
The agent continued, “they’re more bankable. With her, that did not happen.” Besides the Johnny Depp drama, Heard’s role as Mera in Aquaman received under-whelming reviews. But the agent also noted that it was the “bad press” around her that affected her success. This is visible even now as people started a boycott trend against the Jason Momoa sequel because of Heard.
Amber Heard’s role had to be reshot
Another rumour said that Amber Heard’s role had to be reshot as a result of the Lost Kingdom’s recent delay. The release date of the DC movie was changed for the uninitiated from 17 March 2023 to 25 December 2023. Even while this is not the first delay for the movie, it is rumoured that Warner Bros. is having Emilia Clarke reshoot Mera’s scene.
There is no corroboration of this, though. I hope Aquaman 2 doesn’t have any additional delays.
