Edgar Wright, the director of Baby Driver, praised SS Rajamouli’s RRR

More Western directors are praising SS Rajamouli‘s RRR, with British director Edgar Wright calling the Telugu period action epic a “absolute blast” as the most recent.

Wright, the director of blockbusters including Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Baby Driver, and Last Night in Soho, claimed he just viewed RRR at the British Film Institute (BFI) and found it was “entertaining” to watch.

“Finally saw @RRRMovie on the big screen at the @BFI with a great crowd. What an absolute blast. So entertaining. The only film I have ever seen where the intermission card itself got a round of applause,” the 48-year-old filmmaker tweeted on Saturday.

The official RRR Twitter account thanked Wright for the compliments.

“We’re going crazy over this. To hear from you, we are overjoyed. I appreciate it very much, @edgarwright.” RRR, which was theatrically released in March, has earned more than Rs 1,200 crore at the box office worldwide. The movie’s Hindi version debuted on Netflix on May 20 and quickly rose to the position of most-watched Indian film on the platform globally.

The story of two fictional early 20th-century Indian liberation fighters, Alluri Sitarama (played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (played by Jr. NTR), was followed in the movie.

Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam dubs of RRR are also available for streaming on ZEE5.

Numerous Hollywood actors have praised the film in recent weeks, including The Gray Man directors Anthony and Joe Russo and C Robert Cargill of Doctor Strange, Joe Dante of Gremlins fame, James Gunn of Guardians of the Galaxy, Jon Spaihts of Dune, Christopher Miller of Dune, and Scott Derrickson of Doctor Strange.

Google, meanwhile, came up with a novel method to honour Rajamouli and his movie.
