RRR Continues its Victory Lap, Secures Nomination for Golden Globe and BAFTA

RRR Continues its Victory Lap

We can’t claim that the golden days of Indian Cinemas are back, But RRR secures a comfortable place in the nominations for BAFTA and Golden Globe.

RRR is a project by SS Rajamouli and he was practically stunned by the success. Now making great movies isn’t a foreign concept to him as he has films like Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion under his belt.

Starring names such as Ram Charan and Jr NTR, RRR has been a massive sensation on the Indian screens. Though it missed the Oscar Nominations this year, RRR continues to bag award after award.

Now, this is not a regular Indian action extravagance as Rajamouli excels in getting the best from his actors. Having cameos like Ajay Devgan and Alia Bhatt added more spice to the existing brilliance.

And as the dates for the awards come close, RRR secures a comfortable place in Golden Globe and BAFTA Longlist. Under the category of non-English films, it will be competing against films like All Quiet on the Western Front, Argentina 1985, Close, and The Quiet Girl.

RRR also became the first south Indian film to earn two golden globe nominations, one in the Best Non-English Movie category and one for the Telugu track Nattu Nattu.

The nominations suggest that Indian mainstream cinemas have arrived on the world stage. This is a step for Indian cinema to get its golden glory back. The path is surely long but not unachievable.
