Tom Hanks is a legacy, his acting has spell bounded us for decades and he is now back with A Man Called Otto. Directed by Marc Forster, A Man Called Otto will be hitting theaters on January 13th, 2023 worldwide.
In recent times he worked in movies like Elvis, The Post, and Ithaca but the audience misses the magic of Tom Hanks and this movie apparently will satisfy their demands.
It is the second film adaptation of the 2012 novel A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, following the 2015 Swedish film written and directed by Hannes Holm.
A cast that includes Tom Hanks can make anything dazzling anyways, still, it has names like Mariana Treviño, Rachel Keller, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as co-stars.
The story of Otto, a cranky middle-aged man who resides in a Pittsburgh suburb, is told in the movie. Otto is a stickler for the law and regulations, and he takes great satisfaction in keeping his neighborhood tidy and in order. Additionally, he is having a hard time coping with the recent passing of his wife Sonya, who was the love of his life as he was misunderstood by most in his life.
Things started to change in his life and Otto notices that as his relationships with his neighbors grow, he finds himself getting more involved in their lives and assisting them in overcoming their various difficulties. He takes in the cat and helps the family renovate their home.
Otto finds comfort and a sense of meaning in helping others and regaining his passion for life despite experiencing his own challenges and failures. In the end, he discovers how to let go of his sorrow and rejoice in the benefits of living in the present.
It is that type of film that some will absolutely love and some will absolutely despise. But it all depends on if you can go along with the acting of Tom Hanks or not. As an actor, Tom Hanks never disappoints and this won’t be an exception either as he shines in the role of Otto Anderson.
