Jalen Hill, a former UCLA basketball player, passed away at the age of 22 just one year after quitting the game due to anxiety and depression issues on September 20, 2022 as stated by his family, following his disappearance in Costa Rica.

Who is Jalen Hill?

Jalen Hill, born on May 26, 1994, is a free agent at the moment. He also participated in college football at Jacksonville State. Prior to enrolling at the University of California, Los Angeles, Jalen Hill played basketball for Corona Centennial High School.

Hill joined the Bruins from 2018 to 21 as a top 100 recruit out of Corona Centennial High School in California. However, he left the team in February 2021 due to anxiety and depression.

Jalen Hill was very tall and his height was 6 feet 7 inches tall, measured from the floor and weighs something around 218 pounds.

Mick Paid Tribute:

Mick Cronin, the head coach of UCLA, also paid respect to his ex-player in a statement. On Twitter, Cronin wrote, “The news of Jalen Hill’s demise is terrible.

“At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with his family.” Jalen departed us far too soon; he was a kind-hearted young man with a wonderful grin.

While the squad was in China for a game, Hill, along with two teammates, were caught stealing and ultimately suspended, meaning he was unable to participate in the 2017 season.

The next year, he returned to the club and developed into a key member of the squad, playing in 77 games (40 starts) and averaging 6.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest during his time in college.

Josh Giles, his high school coach, decided to recall his character. He described the child as “just a really good kid with a great smile. Although, he was a fantastic basketball player, I simply adored him as a guy”.
