21-Grammy award winner rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, announced his intention to run for U.S. President in 2024. Soon-after, #YE24 was trending on Twitter.
Kanye West Recently Met Trump
In a video posted by Kanye himself, he reveals that he met former U.S. President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago and asked Trump to be his running mate. Coincidentally, Trump too announced that he’ll be contesting for presidency in 2024. The rapper goes on to speak about how his offer of vice-presidency to Trump caught him off guard. But he believes it was mainly his ‘intelligence’ that took back Trump by surprise. He stated that he asked Trump why he hasn’t freed those responsible for the January 6th Capitol Riots? He additionally advised the conservative Trump to orchestrate policies according to the Bible. Kanye has further hinted at alt-right figure Milo Yiannopoulous and ‘loyalist’ and White supremacist Nick Fuentes joining his campaign team.
Trump Hurled Abuses at Kim Kardashian
Kanye’s encounter with Trump wasn’t all positive. “Trump started basically screaming at me at the table, telling me I’m going to lose,” Kanye further added in the video. The former U.S. President allegedly also hurled abuses at Kanye’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian. Ye exclaims he didn’t take this well as after all, “that is the mother of my children.” Ye and Kardashian had filed for divorce and joint custody of their kids on February 19th, 2022. Ever-since, the duo has gone through a messy public divorce. Ye even took shots at Pete Davidson, who dated Kardashian after her divorce. Kanye branded him a narcissist and publicly dissed him in his song ‘Eazy’.

Kanye West Tries His Luck Second Time Around
This isn’t the first time that Kanye has attempted to run for Presidency. In 2020, he secured about 70,000 votes. He was listed as a presidential candidate in 12 states and conducted one public rally in South California. In the rally, he spoke about Kim Kardashian and the topic of abortion. He broke down while recalling how he “almost killed” his daughter but chose to not to go through with the abortion. Kanye told the audience how there would be no Kanye West if it wasn’t for his mom who defied Kanye’s dad impulse to abort him.
Controversy Presently Surrounds Kanye West
Kanye’s 2024 presidential campaign comes at the light of recent controversy. He alleges he lost over $2B within a single day for various sponsors and brands cutting off ties with him. He made various anti-Semitic remarks which led to temporary suspensions of his Instagram and Twitter accounts. He became associated with the alt-right wing and elevated the backlash when he wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt at Paris Fashion Week. His bank JP Morgan distanced themselves from Kanye. While brands such as Adidas and Balenciaga have cut off ties with the rapper. Adidas is additionally investigating accusations of Kanye indulging in workplace harassment of Yeezy employees and creating a ‘toxic environment‘.
