Kim Kardashian is speaking out in response to a recent divisive ad campaign by Balenciaga.
The 42-year-old star of The Kardashians, who frequently works with Balenciaga, spoke out on Sunday after the fashion house was accused of sexualizing children in a recent holiday ad that appeared to show toddlers holding teddy bears dressed in bondage.
How Balenciaga Campaign Blow On Kim Kardashian
Balenciaga apologised for the campaign in a statement following the viral success of the holiday photo shoot, saying that “our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign.” The campaign was promptly taken off from all platforms.
Additionally, a picture of documents related to the US Supreme Court ruling on child porn laws was displayed on their website. In a subsequent statement, Balenciaga expressed regret for “displaying disturbing documents” and announced that they would “be taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items” for their campaign.
What’s Kim Kardashian Officially Stated Over Balenciaga
"I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven't been disgusted and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns. But because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened."
Why Balenciaga Made The Apologies
After releasing an apology in reaction to the issue and withdrawing the photographs from all platforms on Tuesday, according to Insider, Balenciaga reportedly deleted all of its social media posts.
"We really regret any hurt our holiday campaign may have brought. The brand claimed in a statement that they strongly oppose the abuse of children in any manner, and that our plush bear backpacks should not have been featured with children in this ad."
Balenciaga Cuts Ties With Kanye West
Following several questionable statements made by West, 45, in recent weeks, the French fashion house and its parent company Kering announced on Friday that they will no longer be working with the Donda artist. Balenciaga canceled all the ties contracts with Kanye West.
The reality TV star claimed that while she was “shaken” and “disgusted” by the images in the divisive advertisement, she had wished to speak with representatives of the designer to learn how they came to be.
After posting a photo of herself wearing a brand item from the company’s collaboration with Adidas, Kardashian received a deluge of comments urging her to criticise the brand. Overall, though, Kardashian stated that she was satisfied with the manner in which the business handled the scandal.
