Janis Hunter Gaye, the wife of Marvin Gaye, went dead at the age of 66, according to her family. She died on Saturday at her Rhode Island residence. No cause of death has been made public as of yet.
During a 1973 recording session at Hitsville West in Los Angeles for his album Let’s Get It On, the singer was introduced to Hunter Gaye by producer Ed Townsend.

What’s Janis Daughter Stated
In a statement, her daughter Nona Gaye praised her mother as “unforgettable” and recalled how she toiled assiduously to uphold Marvin’s legacy after his passing.
"From the time she met my father, she was exposed to the way he saw this world was aching, and she did her best to preserve his legacy as he was taken from us far too early. She took every moment to speak about every word and every note of his music, and she wanted to make sure everyone knew the man she fell in love with."

When Janis Gaye & Marvin Gaye Met
Janis was 17 years old when she met Marvin who was a two-time Grammy winner. They first met at a 1973 LA recording session. She was 21 and he was 38 when they eventually got married in 1977.
Marvin is renowned for dedicating the album “I Want You” to his partner and penning the hit song “Jan” about her.
Between 1977 and 1981, the couple was wed. They then divorced. After being shot by his father in Los Angeles, he passed away three years later. After the Dance: My Life With Marvin Gaye, her autobiography, was released in 2015.

What’s Janis Hunter Gaye Iconic Outfit
Her family claims that Hunter Gaye put together the iconic ensemble that Gaye wore for his memorable 1974 concert performance at the Oakland Coliseum, which included a red watch cap, a beaded denim shirt, and silver red-laced platform boots.
The singer-musician Slim Gaillard, whose hits included “Flat Foot Floogie (With a Floy Floy),” was the father of Hunter Gaye.

When she was only eight years old and saw Marvin performing on the television programme American Bandstand in 1964, Janis described how she initially fell in love with him. She was a heavy drug user who overdosed on cocaine in one session and needed to be sent to the hospital right away.
She dated Teddy Pendergrass while they were estranged, and one night out, a jealous Marvin stalked them outside the restaurant they were in.
