Henry Cavill is no longer Superman

Henry Cavill as Superman

Well, it’s finally happened. The DC Universe is moving ahead and entering a new chapter. A new chapter without Henry Cavill.

Henry Cavill Doesn’t Fit In New Multi-year Plan

As reported by FactsTalky before, Peter Gunn and James Safran are amidst finalizing details of a new multi-year plan for DC’s future. This new plan looks to end Zack Snyder’s Snyderverse. This correlates to Wonder Woman 3 being scrapped, Jason Momoa no longer playing Aquaman and Henry Cavill vitally no longer playing the iconic Superman.

The latter has now been confirmed. Peter Gunn took to Twitter to disclose how him and co-CEO Safran are “over the moon” about their DC slate. The Peacemaker director further discloses that they can’t wait to share details about the new projects at the beginning of the new year.

Gunn mentions that one of the new projects on their slate revolves around Superman and earlier parts of his life. But Superman vitally would not be played by Henry Cavill. But that doesn’t mean that’s the last we’ve seen of The Witcher actor in DC films. Just like Jason Momoa is tipped to play the anti-hero Lobo, Henry Cavill could play a different role in the DCU. James Gunn did mention that they talked with Cavill about “a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.”

Cavill Reacts

Henry Cavill soon posted about coming to terms about the fact that his turn to wear the infamous red cape is over. He described the development of him not returning as Superman as ‘sad news’. He stated, “After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.” “I respect that James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes,” Cavill wrote.

He proceeded to remind fans that Superman will still be around. Even if his turn to wear the cape is over, what Superman still stands for remains.

Henry Cavill last appeared in the post-credit scene of Dwayne The Rock Johnson’s Black Adam.
